Why does hip hop clothing have to be so baggy? And why do the trousers have to be half way down one’s posterior? In fact, scrap that, what I really want to know is how they stay up when they’re so far down?! I’m quite partial to a bit of hip hop but I just don’t get the dress sense - the guys wear too much and the girls in their videos have next to nothing on them. Maybe it’s irony or something? Whatever it is, you won’t catch me wearing it any time soon.

Recently I became involved in a small charity that helps our local horse riding centre. They do great work for the community and I decided that I would organise a fund raiser to try and generate some cash for the centre. We organised a car boot sale and a cake sale and things went really well. We’re going to look at organising a bbq during the summer. Rather than give cash myself, I made a donation of a box of horse riding helmets. Practical and very well received.

My sister recently had her 4th child – a boy. With every pregnancy comes a new fad that she buys into – there was the diaper bin (which was used with the first baby, a bit with the second and not with either of the last two). Then there was something else and now with this baby, Josh, it’s something that I could have saved her a lot of money on. She read about the benefits of white noise machines and how they help to soothe babies. I could have made a cd for her for free!

I’ve recently taken up card making as a hobby. It all started rather by accident after I realised how much I was spending on greetings cards and other valentines day gifts. It was outrageous.  So I decided enough was enough and I bought a book on card making and bit by bit I started to assemble a selection of tools to help me on my quest.  Of course, I’ve made mistakes and wasted money buying the wrong things - you pay for what you get, as I discovered when it came to cutting tools I thought I was getting a bargain when I picked up a set of blades and craft knives for a very reasonable sum.  When they arrived, it was quite obvious that they wouldn’t cut anything so I’ve disposed of those and made a sharper purchase this time round.

There I was trying to get more done but could i get it done on Monday!

My brother in law is looking for a new job having been made redundant recently. He’s in the insurance business and while he has a good wealth of experience behind him, I’m a bit perplexed as to why he’s looking at Speech-Language Pathologist Jobs! Doesn’t make any sense! Now, maybe I’ve misinterpreted what I saw (job circled in the employment section of the newspaper) but I’m too wary to ask as he’s a really private guy.

My nephew had a birthday party last weekend. He’s crazy about football and his mom threw a football themed party. The kids had a blast. And the adults that were there had a blast too; we were treated to a wonderful spread of culinary delights including seriously delectable football strawberries. I’d had a big lunch at work the same day and wasn’t in the least bit hungry when I got to the party but it still didn’t stop me polishing off more than my fair share of food.

My boss has a bit of a penchant for cigars. I wanted to buy something a little special for him this year as he’s retiring. Whilst researching different kinds of cigars I discovered Padron cigars and was really taken with their mission statement and their story. I’m not a smoker myself, never have, never will. But I must admit, I do quite like the smell of a nice cigar. So what did I buy my boss? Well, I decided on a vintage bottle of scotch.

I’m on a mission to lose weight but I don’t like the gym… So what are my options? Walking or running? Find that really boring. What about gym classes? No; too many people who all look better than me and who know what they’re at. So I’ve decided after talking to some friends, that a wii is the way to go. Now all I have to do is get over my paranoia about my apartment being bugged with hidden cameras and I’ll be able to embrace my new fitness regime!

They say eyes are the windows to the soul so maybe that’s why women are so concerned about doing everything they can to accentuate their eyes. There’s mascara, false eyelashes, eyelash enhancers, eyelash extensions and all sorts of other ways to enhance eyes. It’s amazing the difference that cosmetics can have on the appearance on the eyes. Take a closer look next time you’re talking to a woman and check the effort she’s gone too to dress her ‘windows’
